About The Collection

2 November 2022

Like I said in my last blog, I’m working on growing my business and creating products I am proud of. So, I am very excited to share the new collection I’ve been working on recently!

The new collection was inspired by all the cool things my Pappy has picked up from the beach and sent me the past couple years. My Pappy has always shared amazing finds with me from all over, his specialty though is finding cool beach debris and amazing seashells! Over the past years, I’ve been collecting and storing all the amazing things Pappy finds me. I was never sure what I should use them for, he suggested I could make some cool art pieces with his finds or maybe even jewelry. So here I am making a small collection of jewelry from beach debris and shells.

As I was tinkering away on the new jewelry, I was also trying to come up with a name for it and nothing was really coming to mind. I ended up sending Pappy a picture of all the things I made from his finds and his reply was so sweet and perfect. He responded with, “Pretty work made from the Lords own watery garden”. Watery garden, how sweet and what an amazing way to look at the ocean. With Pappy’s help and perfect response, I’ve found the perfect name for my collection, Watery Garden.

Watery Garden was inspired by organic material and debris from the beach. I was able to combine new material with organic material and created a delicate, beach themed collection. All the pieces include some sort of item found by Pappy on the beach. Something that also makes this collection stand out is that every piece is one of a kind, each shell and each piece is special. Every piece is imperfectly perfect and has it’s own unique characteristic that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

One of the main shells used to put this all together were the oyster shells. The oyster shells are a soft, pearly white and gray and each has it’s own special shape. For filler beads, I used beads that I’ve had stored away and was waiting to use until I could come up with something that was worth using them for. When I was putting the jewelry together, I felt the color scheme just fell in place. The pink crystal beads and white & pink pearls fit perfectly together and complimented the shells in the right way. The colors, the shells and the beads all worked so well together and seemed to fit the aesthetic of Kabenzie’s pretty well too!

I am so thankful and so happy to have saved all the amazing things Pappy has sent me and I am so thrilled to be able to share it with others too. Pappy has gifted me some incredible, yet random things over the years and I can’t wait to see what else he finds for me. Who knows what he’ll send me next!

Hopefully all these pieces in the Watery Collection find the right person and bring some light to a person’s day. Each piece was made with love that comes from both Pappy and I and I want to share that love as much as I can.

If you haven’t already, go check out the Watery Collection and see what its all about, just click the button below! I’ll be making more pieces based on this collection that you can find at my pop-ups, markets and here on my website.

Stay tuned for more to come!
